Private lessons

At Lightning Ant Music School, we offer private lessons in guitar, bass guitar, and drums. You will gain an exceptional and rewarding learning experience. At the most basic level you will learn your favourite cover tunes; and if you want to delve a little deeper, we can analyze the music theory, techniques, and drum rudiments used behind those tunes and how they apply to your instrument. You will have the option of being placed in a band and learn to play in a collaborative setting in preparation for live performances (band rehearsal drop in fees apply).

If you’re looking for something more advanced, I offer music theory lessons and teach how the theory concepts we learn apply to the guitar and bass guitar, which improves our overall knowledge of the instrument and allows us to understand why things sound the way they do.  You will learn how to apply music theory and scale patterns for the purposes of improvising and you will acquire the skill of jamming to any chord progression in any key with other musicians.  We will explore a never-ending supply of rock and blues bending licks to satisfy the Stevie Ray Vaughan or Kirk Hammett in you. Want to play bass like Flea or Les Claypool? No Problem!! We can learn slap and funk on the bass! If you really want to up your drumming, we can have an extensive look at all the different sticking rudiments and gain a thorough understanding of how rhythm works from your simple 4/4 time signature all the way up to compound time signatures and polyrhythms. You’ll be able to play like Danny Carey! 

Private lessons are customized and personalized to meet your particular interest. I want to facilitate a learning environment where you can come and discover yourself through music. Lightning Ant Music School is a place where music is used to strengthen relationships, confidence and self-esteem, social and emotional skills, cognitive and educational growth, and physical and sensory development; and the best part of all, it is all done by having FUN!  From a personal experience, there’s nothing more fulfilling than connecting with your friends and family through music; and rocking out on stage!
